Weekend in Kuala Lumpur: Doctor fish spa

During our visit of Kuala Lumpur, we stumbled on a really peculiar spa. You put your feet in a pool and small fishes come eat your dead skin and clean your feet.
I tried it. It was really tickling and uncomfortable. To be honest, I found it a bit disgusting to have small fishes sucking on my feet.

It was really funny to see people's reaction. This man made me laugh: he could not stand it because he was too ticklish.

If you are ever in Kuala Lumpur and want to try this, the spa is located in the Central Market. It costs only 10 Malaysian ringgits for 10 minutes, which is around 2,5 €.

Weekend in Kuala Lumpur: business district

Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, is 50 minutes away by plane from Singapore. This city did not dazzle me at first, but as I walked around I found it more and more interesting.

We started our city tour with the Golden triangle, the city's business quarter full of skyscrapers, shopping malls, hotels...
This neighborhood is also the home of the famous Petronas twin towers. These 452 meters high towers, designed by the Argentine architect Cesar Pelli symbolize the country's economic growth.

A sky bridge connects the two towers. There is a free access to the bridge but you have to queue for hours to get tickets to go up there. Unfortunately for us we did not get up early enough.

My exotic daytrip to Pulau Ubin

Pulau Ubin is a small tropical island (10 km2) in the north-east of Singapore.
To get to Pulau Ubin, we took a bumboat for about 10 minutes. We arrived in a small rustic village with a few places to eat and several bike rental shops.
We rented a bike and ventured into the island's jungle. It was really hard to cycle on some of the paths. It was a challenge due to the warm and humid weather. Pulau Ubin is only 10 minutes away from the main island of Singapore but I really felt transported to a whole other place.

Very unusual: a bumboat with both a French and a Danish flag on it

Singlish: the English-based creole language spoken in Singapore, in my opinion very hard to understand.

Mangroves. Mangroves have a protective effects against tsunamis. So it is essential to keep mangrove forests intact.

Me: "I like your style. Can I take a picture a picture of you?"
Him laughing with his girlfriends : "I'm embarrassed!"

Fire garden installations at Empress Place and Esplanade Park in Singapore

The "Compagnie Carabosse", a French group of artists made various spectacular installations with pots of fire. The installation is part of the Singapore Arts festival.
As you can see, some pictures are of better quality than others. I was so frustrated that my camera wasn't taking good pictures at night that I asked the person who seemed to have the most professional camera (with a stand and everything) to send me some of his pictures. Thank you Gerald!

Cultural diversity in Singapore

Singapore is a city with a great cultural diversity. Walking around Singapore, you can travel to China and visit a Buddhist temple, travel to India and visit a Hindu temple, visit a mosque in the Arabic quarter, encounter the colonial past... You can also eat food from all over the world.
